When she finds her fiancée and his ex-wife in a compromising position at her wedding rehearsal, Jessie Maynard decides to head to her late great Aunt Blanche’s vacant house. All she wants is some peace and quiet. Some alone time to reflect on her life and what has happened to her but upon arriving at the house she finds she is not alone. Luke Tanner Blanche’s adopted foster son has been called back to his mother’s house by a cryptic message sent from her deathbed. Luke doesn’t mind taking care of her pregnant cat but he is not interested in watching over Blanche’s grandniece. The two decide to compromise and share the house. As Luke and Jessie try to understand what is happening between the two of them they must also figure out just what is going on in the small town of Mystic Hollow. The two begin to find out that this sleepy little town holds many secrets. Jessie and Luke must figure out who is behind it all before time runs out. Adding to all the mayhem is Luke’s ex-wife Crystal whom he still may have feelings for. Crystal has her claws out and intends to get Luke back even if he may be interested in Jessie now. Jessie must decide if she loves Luke enough to fight for him or will she run away. With many lovable characters this story is an endearing read. As Luke struggles with his feelings we see what a good man he is. Jessie loves with her whole heart and will stand by those she cares for. Ann Yost writes an intriguing story that keeps you entertained all the way to the last page.
