Dylan Crane is an unrepentant geek. He’s also in love with his savvy but sweet neighbor, Erin. Unfortunately, Erin only sees him as a friend. That changes when Erin needs a date for a work event. After seeing him all cleaned up and more in her world, Erin notices how handsome and sexy Dylan really is. They explore a relationship, but when Erin’s work ambitions trample on Dylan’s ethics, both have to decide if what they have is what they want.
The Geek Next Door has some of my favorite elements of contemporary romance-heat, humor and an actual bump in the plotline to give real conflict. It’s such a short story that to make it work, Erin and Dylan needed the initial familiarity and Ms. Fraser started them off beautifully. The characters worked beautifully together. Dylan personified ‘geek’ but he did so in a way that still kept him strong and sexy-all wrapped up in silly shirts, video games and a bad haircut. The Geek Next Door is a fun short almost any romance reader would enjoy.
