Jade and Dillon were natural enemies and yet so much more. This was a wonderful vampire story of an impossible love that finds a way to work.
Jade is a highly trained, deadly warrior with a mission to kill every vampire she finds. Dillon is a vampire, a monster as he claims, and yet he fights alongside her killing vampires. “she was honor bound to kill the one living creature she’d ever known who saw her as something other than a killer” That one sentence sums up the depth of her feelings and the depth of her confusion about Dillon. And “he would live, or he would die, but he would never all the hunger to control him, ever again” sums up Dillon’s feelings and determination when Jade is desperate to save him.
The characters were well drawn with dark pasts, emotional depth, and goals that were complicated by one another. The conflicts were many and difficult. This wasn’t an erotic story, but a pleasingly sensual story that kept me pulling for these frustrated characters.
