Once a Roman slave, Allegra’s turning gave her freedom and power, but now Allegra wants someone who could be her companion throughout eternity. Kyrian is a druid with powers of his own and seems to be the perfect match, but as the ages pass, Kyrian becomes stronger and stronger, changing the roles in their relationship. His dominance terrifies Allegra who flees from his side, but after centuries Kyrian has managed to track her down. Will they be able to love again?
I feel like this book had a lot of potential that is never realized. The plot was intriguing to me but I found my connection to the characters lacking, especially to Kyrian who’s point of view is not really told. If there was a relationship between the main characters, it must have happened in the inbetween spaces of time because this book jumps along almost 700 years of time, longer if you include flashbacks. Time is an element that really bothered me about this story. It was either an exaggeration or miswritten because it was very misleading. At one point in the story Allegra thinks about the last centuries that she and Kyrian have spent together, when she turned him only 60 years ago. There is another discrepancy in time at the end of the piece as well but I don’t want to give anything anyway plot wise. If you like a darker romance where the characters are aggressively sexual and barely converse with each other until the last 3 pages then this is the story for you. Personally I wasn’t a fan and don’t really recommend it.
