Brom Bones is here today from Sleepy Hollow

GR: Today we’re glad to have with us Brom Bones from Sleepy Hollow.
Welcome Brom Bones. Brom is short for something right?

Brom: My real name is Abraham Von Brunt but because of my incredible strength of limb I have earned the nickname Brom Bones.

GR: I understand that there are some misconceptions about you that you might be able to help us clear up.
First, what can you tell us about a young lady you have been rumored to have an interest in…a Katrina I think?

Brom: Well, (((scratches head))) yes that is the rumor. Do not misunderstand. Miss Katrina Van Tassel is a lovely girl. Though she cannot sing a note, she loves a good scheme and I suppose that is what I like about her. As a friend. I must stress, it is just a rumor that we are courting. My interests lie with someone else and that individual has a rather active imagination which I don’t need to rile by perpetuating a rumor about me and Miss Van Tassel.

GR: Hmmm…sounds interesting. Care to enlighten us who your jealous beau might be? Does she have a name?

Brom: Since most people in Tarrytown, New York in the eighteenth century where I live do not have access to the internet I suppose I can tell you this: it’s not a woman.

GR: Really? Well, aren’t you just full of surprises, Brom Bones?

Brom: So it would seem.

GR: You care to give us the name of your lover?

Brom: No, but if you want you can read our story in ‘THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW’ rewritten correctly this time by Deanna Wadsworth http://deannawadsworth.blogspot.com

GR: Are you saying Washington Irving got the story wrong?

Brom: Not wrong, per se. He just left out all the good parts.

GR: Its common gossip that you have a liking for a good prank? Was that part of the original story true?”

Brom: (((laughs))) I’m always up for a fight or a frolic. I find sometimes that a good practical joke is the only way to get a person’s attention if that person is intent on ignoring you.

GR: I’m assuming you are referring to your male love interest that you won’t tell us about. Now don’t you think that sometimes these kinds of jokes can go further than you intend?

Brom: Well that depends on what you mean by that. My last prank was impersonating the Headless Horseman and scaring the wits out of Tarrytown’s schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane. And as far as I am concerned, that turned out exactly how I wanted. Better even.

GR: I’d love to hear how you met your author Deanna Wadsworth and why you allowed her to write the true version of what happened in Sleepy Hollow all those years ago.

Brom: Miss Wadsworth calls herself ‘vanilla’ though I don’t really know what she means by that. She lives in Ohio, is married and has three dogs. Two cocks and a wiener. Cocker Spaniels and a Dachshund, respectively. She has a fascination with all kinds of bizarre and exotic things and these often finds their way into her writings. After we read what she did with Red Riding Hood, we knew she was the writer for us. (http://www.decadentpublishing.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_49&products_id=137&osCsid=8dhn7e85nsk58mv44fkjrjn0o2

GR Then you would say you have a good working relationship with Deanna?

Brom: Definitely. I chat with her on Facebook all the time (add these links too please!) http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001206469235 and a friend of mine is hosting interviews on her blog right now. http://deannawadsworth.blogspot.com Icha—I mean, my lover and I thought she would be the perfect one to tell our story while keeping with the old fashioned writing style of our time.

GR: Oops! You almost spilled the beans. But it sounds like we will have to read your book THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW if we want to know what really happened. Where can we find this book?

Brom: THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW comes out October 23, 2010 from Decadent Publishing http://decadentpublishing.com and soon after that you will be able to order it at Amazon for your Kindle.

GR: Thanks for visiting us today. I know the readers will be thrilled to learn so much about you and your author, Deanna Wadsworth, as well. She sounds mondo talented, and I see why you chose her to tell the tale.

The first in Kristy Bock’s divine series, Kate is an archeologist who is extremely excited about the werewolf bones and can’t wait to unpack and examine them. On the journey to learning more about what curse befell her foster family, Kate believes the werewolf bones are the key. However, Kate’s bones don’t remain bones for long and in their place she finds a naked man!

Zane DeSeville has been trapped for 500 years in the void until Kate releases him. Looking shockingly like the woman who imprisoned him, Zane has a hard time trusting Kate’s intentions, but as the daughter of the Goddess Zane serves, keeping Kate alive is now Zane’s responsibility.

Kate has just discovered she is the daughter of the Goddess Noxia and must now pass the Three Trials of Humanity or be imprisoned as Zane has been. With enemies left and right, Kate must rely on Zane and her new circle of friends to help her adjust to her new powers and survive the trials or suffer the consequences.

Goddesses, werewolves, and elves, oh my! This book was incredibly clever and fun. Filled to the bursting with magical creatures this story is a fast paced ride that doesn’t really slow down until the end. Kate and Zane are very lovable characters and their relationship unfolds very sweetly. The plot offers many twists and turns with every new realization. As the first of a series a lot had to be accomplished in this story with the unveiling of a whole cast of characters, but this was done in an interesting way that was not overwhelming like some other series beginners tend to be. The dialogue is witty and well written, making me laugh on several occasions. I would highly recommend this book and I’m anticipating continuing the series.

Following a glimmering trail in the forest, Cavyn, a centuries old vampire, discovers a creature that he only knew through legend, a nymphomaniac. Loveday a Nymphomaniac in service to the House of Triune is forced to pay tribute to Medb on Beltane by participating in sexual revelry with any male she encounters, climaxing in Medb's name. Loveday hates having to succumb to the wills of her body during Beltane but she must to remain among her kind. Loveday enlists Cavyn to become her lover during Beltane but will he be able to get her what she truly wants, her freedom.

This was a very sexy story with some pretty dark moments. I liked the concept of this story. It was something different and the characters were well crafted. There was a little bit of plot but this story was mostly the relationship between Cavyn and Loveday, or and his nest mate Priscilla, but for that part you’ll just have to read it. Overall a very hot, intense read; I enjoyed it.

The Autumn of Life

by Maureen O.  Betita

I love the fall. My absolute favorite time of the year. The change of the seasons, the strange hush the afternoon takes on as the sun nears the horizon, the silver sheen the waters of Monterey Bay carry, and most of all, the way my yard opens up to reveal what was hidden all summer.

Let me explain. I live in a town that literally translates to ‘the jungle beach.’ No, not a tropical jungle, but a California coast jungle of poison oak, ivy, vinca and berries with thorns that make summer gardening a true nightmare. There isn’t a real ‘no growth’ time of the year here. Just a slow down and shedding time of the year. My house sits on the down slope of a narrow valley that is full of oaks, eucalyptus, coffee berry and the assorted vines I mentioned above. Plus camellia, fuchsias, and the assorted remnants gone wild of whatever the tenants before us planted.

Come spring and summer, I am closed in with growth. But now, this time of the year…the poison oak has done its brilliant red dance and is going dormant. The berry is drying up, the oaks drop a bazillion leaves, the coffee berry goes bare. And suddenly, the slopes of the hillsides are revealed. I can see the burrows of the wood rats, the paths the deer have been taking all summer…more light makes it through to actually touch my windowpanes.

It’s nice!

Autumn is a revelation. Everything is slowing down and I can appreciate what is going on around me. Which leads me to the book I’ve written, The Kraken’s Mirror. My hero is 65. My heroine is 53. They are in the autumn of their lives but are by no means ready for rocking chairs or snuggies. The have the keener eyesight their age has brought them and the ability to focus beyond the immediate. Though after falling through a magical mirror to a pirate paradise where the swashbuckling heroes wear ipods and matchmaking kraken meddle in human affairs, Emily takes some convincing that she isn’t simply insane.

I loved writing a story featuring a couple our society views as past the season of romance. But one never knows when romance is around the corner. My Mother-in-Law is in her 80s and happily engaged to a man she met ten years ago on the internet.

Keep your eyes open, the autumn season is full of the unexpected.

The Kraken’s Mirror, coming soon from Decadent Publishing.
Blurb –

Treated by our youth oriented society as invisible and sexless Emily Pawes attends a pirate festival to recapture the make believe magic she knew as a younger woman. She wins an interesting bit of booty at an old woman's bric-a-brac stand. The Kraken's mirror is a magical portal and transports her to a land of Hollywood piratitude, where swashbuckling heroes own iPods. With little choice, she embraces the madness, deciding she’ll play pirate until she figures out how to get home. Or wakes up in a padded cell.

Instead of men in little white coats, she encounters the handsome Captain Alan Silvestri. He is a man haunted by a strange curse. Good luck is his to command, but it comes at the cost of any place to call home or people to call family. Resigned to die shunned by all, forced to sail every three days, he begins to dream of a special woman.

When they meet, sparks fly, passion flares. He needs her to be free, but more than that, he needs her to be whole. They set sail, uncertain of who has control of the wheel, seeking to defeat his curse of good luck and discover all the Kraken’s mirror plans for them.
Celebrate the season, celebrate romance. One lucky commenter will win some bright bit of pirate swag, courtesy of me and my creative fingers. And chocolate. Always a tempting bit of treasure…
