As a good witch in a small town, Sadie is accustomed to some heckling and hostility. When a new church comes to town and makes her a target of all that is sinful and horrible, the mild annoyance she’s dealt with before becomes hostile. Threatening letters, rocks through her window and escalating violence drive her to the police for help. Unfortunately the police are of much of the same mind as the church folks and think she’s making things up. Only Walt Malone, the sheriff seems to believe her, but when push comes to shove, Sadie’s not sure even the hunky, sweet sheriff will believe her innocence.

Crepe Myrtle was a very dramatic story. Some of the situations I had to stretch to believe, especially the huge amount of hostility presented toward Sadie, but Dawne Prochilo made me believe with every scene. The story was incredibly fast paced and I even though it was predictable in some ways, in others there were definite curves that made it a really great, quick story. I gave it four diamonds and I think anyone feeling the need for a little white magic and drama would enjoy it.
