After two failed marriages and countless relationships, Sandra Holiday thinks she’s met the man to end her years of less than perfect choices; choices that not only derailed her travel-related career plans but also left her single and broke. Then her ex-husband, country singer Carson Holiday, reappears, and Sandra must choose again. Throw in a crazy stalker and a sister in the midst of personal crisis, and Sandra’s life seems to be falling apart at the seams – again.
The author has presented a cast of quirky characters, but some were so eccentric I had trouble engaging. The use of first person narrative also put more distance between the reader and the secondary characters, including the love interest. The hokey stalker subplot added little to what is essentially the story of a 50-year-old heroine still trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. Sandra didn’t come across as a mature woman facing mature problems, and the other characters felt under-developed and a bit two dimensional.
